Hoi, I’m Brian!
My journey to Kopje Limburg is quite literally a love story. I traded the tropical warmth of the Philippines for the beautiful hills of Limburg to cross the world and be with my girlfriend and co-founder, Marjolein.
Before calling Limburg my home, I spent seven years building businesses from the ground up. With a degree in Electronics Engineering, I love figuring out how things work—whether that means scaling digital e-commerce brands or managing the daily chaos of running my own successful restaurant back in the Philippines.
Here at Kopje Limburg, Marjolein and I are combining our strengths. While she brings her local expertise, I use my background in coding, digital marketing, and operations to make sure our community gets a smooth, high-quality news experience.
When I’m not behind the keyboard optimizing our platform, you’ll probably find me exploring the province with Marjolein or in the kitchen whipping up my favorite Asian dishes.
Marjolein Schattevoet
I am proud to say I have lived my entire life in this beautiful province. Having moved five times across almost all of Limburg, from the peaceful village of Hegelsom (Horst aan de Maas) in the North to the more urban environments of Parkstad in the South, I have seen many different sides of Limburg and its inhabitants.
While I graduated as a Media Designer and gained professional experience at design and content agencies, my path has also taken me through a wide variety of industries. Working in a greenhouse, a supermarket, and a printing house, among others, allowed me to experience many different perspectives within our province. These diverse environments, from creative studios to local workfloors, showed me that people from all walks of life want the world to be a bit brighter, yet often feel powerless and alone.
Through Kopje Limburg, I’ve returned to my lifelong passion for writing and storytelling. I want to use my words to move people, break down walls, and clear out the loneliness. I hope our stories lighten the hearts and shoulders of our readers, bring people together in a way that feels like home, and that our seeds will one day grow into something great.
