Ever wondered what will happen to that beautiful church in your neighborhood? You are not alone. On Friday 26 June, thirty master students from TU Delft are coming to Maastricht with fresh ideas, and you are warmly invited to join the conversation.
Together with the municipality, the students explored how three well-known churches could get a new role in their neighborhood:
- 🏛️ Antonius van Paduakerk in Scharn
- ⛪ Petrus en Pauluskerk in Wolder
- ✨ Vier Evangelistenkerk in Malberg
These are mostly creative thinking exercises. An idea that does not fit one church might be perfect for another. That free approach is exactly what makes it interesting to see.
Here is how the afternoon looks at the Antonius van Paduakerk:
- 11.00: doors open with coffee

- 13.00: closing reflection

Many churches in Limburg face the same quiet challenge: shrinking congregations, sky-high maintenance costs, and buildings that are sometimes over a century old. TU Delfts Religious Heritage studio looks beyond architecture into social value. The real question is not whether these churches will remain, but how they can become the heart of the neighborhood again without losing their soul.
