Got a plan to make your neighborhood greener? Maybe a community orchard, a wildflower meadow, a pond, or a small forest? Here is your chance. The Steunpunt Landschapsbeheer is giving away 5,000 euros to the best volunteer-driven green project in Limburg.
The competition is called ‘Limburg Mooier Groen’ and this is already the third edition. You do not need to be a professional. They are specifically looking for volunteers with passion for their surroundings.
Here is what you need to know:
- You can submit until August 31, 2026
- The winner is announced on Saturday September 26 in Wijlre
- You present your initiative live, then a jury and the audience vote
- The money is meant to actually make your project happen

Previous winners have not only succeeded with their own projects but created a ripple effect. According to Jan Kluskens from the Steunpunt, winning projects activate and connect local volunteer groups who then continue working independently on biodiversity in their area long after the prize money is spent.
