Great news if you are struggling with your energy bill and want to insulate your home but just cannot make the numbers work with existing subsidies. The province of Limburg is now adding up to 2,800 euros extra per home. And the best part? You do not have to pay anything upfront.
Here is how it works in practice:
- A support desk actively reaches out to you and visits your home for advice
- They handle subsidy applications, hire contractors, and take care of all paperwork
- The province pays the companies directly
- Expected savings on your energy bill: 30 to 40 percent 🎉
In Peel en Maas, the foundation Peel en Maas Verduurzaamt runs the pilot. They literally sit down at your kitchen table to discuss everything. No complicated websites or brochures, just personal contact.
After the first 600 applications, there will be an evaluation. Then the province plans to scale up to all 35,000 Limburg households living in energy poverty.
The province has allocated 456,300 euros for this pilot in Peel en Maas alone. But the bigger picture is even more impressive: the Provincial Energy Services Company (PEM), approved by the Provincial Council on October 31, 2025, was established to make sustainability accessible for everyone. From mid-2027, the approach will scale to approximately 35,000 households across all of Limburg living in energy poverty.
