The center of Heerlen is all about shopping, strolling, and bumping into friends. To keep it pleasant and safe for everyone, there is now a simple agreement:
🚴♂️➡️🚶 Are the shops open? Then you walk with your bike by your side!
When does this apply?
- Monday to Wednesday and Friday/Saturday: between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM
- Thursday (late shopping evening): between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM
It is actually a very logical rule of thumb. As soon as shops open, the streets get busier. Shoppers, strollers, people casually browsing… you do not want someone zooming past on a bike. So just hop off and walk. It is that simple!
This way, we all make sure the city center of Heerlen stays a great place to be. For pedestrians, for cyclists, for everyone. 🙂
