Hey Brunssum, time to put on your detective hat. The municipality needs your help with a strange story right in the heart of town.
During the night of Sunday 31 May into Monday 1 June, the well-known cascade artwork on the Lindeplein was damaged. A bronze piece was pulled loose. The next morning, at exactly 8 a.m., an unknown man simply walked off with it. The cameras caught everything.
The piece has been missing ever since. And without it, the 2017 monument can’t be properly restored.
The municipality is asking: 🧐
- Do you recognize the man in the photos?
- Were you near the Lindeplein around 8 a.m. on Monday morning?
- Did you notice anything suspicious that Sunday evening or during the night?
- Any idea where that bronze piece might be now?

The cascade artwork has been a centerpiece of the Lindeplein since 2017, installed as part of the major redesign of the Brunssum town center. The bronze design symbolically refers to flowing water and the city’s mining heritage, forming the heart of the renewed square together with the fountain feature.
