If you’re wandering through Landgraaf or enjoying the views at the Brunssummerheide this week, you might encounter something truly extraordinary. Nala, a stunning 3-year-old Serval, is currently on an unexpected adventure after a break-in attempt at her home scared her away.
While her striking spots and slender build might remind you of a small jaguar, Nala is a beloved family pet who is deeply missed by her owners and furry siblings.
The Search is On
Local authorities and the Dierenhulplijn Parkstad are working tirelessly to bring her home safely:
- Live traps have been set up in the Het Eikske and Schaesberg areas.
- Search teams are actively monitoring the region.
- Drones with thermal cameras are being deployed to locate her resting spots in the wild.
Good to know: No danger
Don’t be alarmed if you see her! Nala is used to living with dogs and cats and is not a danger to humans or larger pets. However, she is very shy and stressed.
Important: Please do not approach or try to catch her yourself. Keeping the area quiet is the best way to help her feel safe enough to enter a trap. For those nearby, it’s best to keep small pets like rabbits or chickens safely indoors for now.
Help us bring Nala home!
We all hope Nala is safe and sound, perhaps catching some April sun on the heath before returning to her family. Have you seen her? Every tip counts!
