Great news if you are on a tight budget but still want to get around. Arriva Dal Vrij Limburg, the free off-peak travel pass, can now be applied for by anyone with a low income, not just people on welfare benefits. Until now it was mostly available to those receiving social assistance, but there is a bigger group that qualifies too.
Here is what you need to know:
- From June 29, the digital portal is open for Maastricht residents
- From July 14, all other Limburg municipalities can apply
- Your application includes a digital income check, handled by Qii (an independent organization, so your data stays private)
- You travel free during off-peak hours on Arriva buses and trains in Limburg
When is it valid? 🕐
- Weekdays: midnight to 06.30 and 09.00 to midnight
- Weekends and public holidays: all day
More than 27,000 Limburgers already have a pass. If you think you qualify, check the digital portal on Arriva’s website.
Living in Gulpen-Wittem and need help? You can visit the town hall at Willem Vliegenstraat 12 in Gulpen. Just make an appointment so you can be helped right away.
The income check is not performed by the municipality or Arriva but by Qii, a specialized independent organization. This means your financial data never reaches the Province of Limburg or Arriva. It is used exclusively for this single verification and is not shared afterward. Your privacy is fully protected while you prove your eligibility for free travel.
