Do you write your feelings or stories on paper with passion? Now is your chance to see your very own words shine on the windows of your neighborhood! Read on if you already feel your creativity bubbling up.
Limburg Libraries have an annual project called ‘Summer Poems’ (Zomergedichten). This wonderful initiative not only offers a special opportunity for local writers and hobby poets but also brings a smile to neighbors throughout the entire summer. From north to south, libraries are participating—from Venray all the way to Simpelveld.

Every Limburger who feels inspired can give it a go and submit an original poem. Help us brighten up the streets with summery or timeless wordplay and rhymes, in either Dutch or the local dialect. The only thing you really need to keep in mind is that it has to fit on an average window – so don’t make it as long as the dictionary! 😉
“From Venray to Simpelveld.”
You have until Friday, April 17, to submit your poem via the website of your local library: Venray, Horst aan de Maas, Weert, Nederweert, Peel en Maas, Roermond, Leudal, Beesel, Maasbracht, Brunssum, Voerendaal, Kerkrade and Simpelveld. Following that, during the month of May, the poems can be adopted through Zomergedichten by residents and business owners, after which enthusiastic volunteers will decorate the windows beautifully.
Join us in this effort and connect our province with your heartwarming words, which will bring a smile to everyone’s face through the summer glow!

Have you taken beautiful photos of poems on windows, or are you proudly posing with your own poem? Let us know! We would love to put you in the well-deserved spotlight so all of Limburg can enjoy it with you.
