Well, the scientific results are finally in, and space is incredibly deceptive. That rock didn’t land anywhere near Limburg. Instead, it ended its journey by smashing straight through the roof of a house in Koblenz, Germany. While we were looking up at 18:55, a chunk of the universe punched a hole through some roof tiles and landed smack in the middle of an upstairs bedroom while the family was sitting downstairs.

Researchers at Münster University recently confirmed this is a “brecciated eucrite,” an exceptionally rare type of stony meteorite. Because it’s a “fresh fall” untouched by Earth’s weather, collectors are desperate for it. On the private market, these go for €50 to €150 per gram. Since the main chunk weighs 161 grams, those homeowners basically had a rock worth around €17,000 fall into their lap.
