Got a dream of creating something green and beautiful in your neighborhood? A community orchard, a picking meadow, a pond, or a little forest for everyone to enjoy? Here is your shot.
The Steunpunt Landschapsbeheer (Landscape Management Support Center) of Het Limburgs Landschap is running its third edition of the ‘Limburg Mooier Groen’ competition. The winner receives €5,000 to turn their plan into reality. 💚
Here is what you need to know:
- Deadline to enter: August 31, 2026
- Winner announced: Saturday, September 26 in Wijlre
- Finalists present their projects to a jury and the audience gets to vote too
- Made possible by the Postcode Loterij (Dutch Postcode Lottery)
Jan Kluskens from the Steunpunt puts it nicely: ‘You see so many beautiful things happen. Both in the landscape itself and between the people who put their hearts into it.’ Previous winners have inspired others to start their own projects.

The Steunpunt Landschapsbeheer does far more than just this competition. They lend out free tools to green volunteers, organize landscape management courses, and connect volunteer groups with each other. All of this is funded by the province of Limburg, creating an entire network of people who collectively maintain and green the landscape across the region.
