It is almost time! On Monday April 27, Weert celebrates King’s Day and the city center turns orange. Whether you are hunting for bargains or selling your old stuff, the Oranjevrijmarkt (Orange Flea Market) is the place to be! 🧡
King’s Night and the flea market
The party kicks off on Saturday evening April 26 with a cozy music event at the Nieuwe Markt. On King’s Day itself, the inner ring of the Singels (Bassin, Kasteelsingel, Emmasingel, Langpoort and Wilhelminasingel) transforms into a massive flea market.
A few ground rules
- You can claim your spot from Sunday April 26 at 6 PM, no early reservations allowed!
- Only secondhand items from private sellers, no commercial sales.
- No large appliances like washing machines or fridges, and no big furniture.
- Cooking or frying on the spot is only allowed with a permit from the municipality.
- Keep doors and driveways clear for residents and businesses.
- Take your unsold items home and leave the area clean. 🙏
Parking and toilets
On King’s Day, parking is free on open parking lots (without barriers) and along streets. Heads up: the inner side of the Singels has a parking ban from Sunday 5 PM to Monday 6 PM. Extra wheelchair-accessible toilets are available near city hall, Kasteelsingel, the Walburg, and the library. 🚻
