Opera comes to school: every primary school in Beekdaelen gets a live performance

1x

How cool is this? All ten primary schools in Beekdaelen will be visited by Opera Compact in the coming months with their performance ‘Vrij Lief’ (Freely Loved). A real opera show, specially designed for children aged 10 and up!

The performance is inspired by the famous opera ‘Carmen’, a story about love, desire, and jealousy. But in ‘Vrij Lief’, they take it back to the beginning: those first careful steps in love. Think first encounters, expectations, and the question: what happens when you are just honest, without playing a role? 🎭💕

How it works:

  • Students prepare with a lesson guide beforehand
  • They watch the performance at school
  • Afterwards, there is a conversation with the creators Eva Diederix, Tim Stoter, and Sybrand van der Werf

The kick-off takes place on Tuesday, May 12 at Basisschool De Bolster in Nuth. This collaboration was set up through Mark Mülders of Ecsplore, who works as a cultural connector in Beekdaelen to make sure everyone, young and old, gets access to culture.

This summer, the full ‘Carmen’ opera is also coming to Hulsberg. Tickets are available via culturanova.nl 🎶
