Did you know the Maas ferries are absolutely essential for our region? Whether you need to get to work, drop the kids at school or just enjoy a lovely bike ride along the river, these ferries are worth their weight in gold!
Why are they so important?
- 🚗 No more detours: without the ferries you would have to drive way around
- 🚴 Perfect for cyclists and hikers looking for the best routes
- 🏘️ Villages on both sides of the Maas stay connected
The municipalities of Horst aan de Maas, Venlo, Peel en Maas and Beesel work together to keep everything running smoothly. Ferry company Ton Paulus BV handles the daily crossings.
Great news: major maintenance work was completed in 2025. The landing docks have been renovated and are now better protected against high water. Safe and reliable crossings guaranteed!
And there is more to look forward to. The municipalities are exploring whether the ferries can become more sustainable, perhaps with electric motors. Cleaner sailing on the Maas, how good does that sound?
Alderman Eric Beurskens puts it nicely: the ferries connect not just riverbanks, but people and facilities too. For visitors it is often a special experience, for us locals it is simply super practical!
